NPCIL Signs N-Power Deal with Koreas KEPCO

npcilKorea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), South Korea’s state power firm, has signed a deal with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) to cooperate in the nuclear power sector.

Under the deal, the two plan to conduct a feasibility study on the construction of Korea-designed nuclear power stations in India, KEPCO said. It will push ahead with the project on the basis of the study’s findings, it added.

India currently operates 17 nuclear power stations and plans to construct more that would add a combined generating capacity of more than 20,000 MWe by 2020, KEPCO said.
