Greetings.  Today, India occupies a very important position in the world of nuclear commerce. With the signing of a historic deal with the United States on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy, India has opened the floodgates of global nuclear commerce. India has also signed in the last one year similar deals with other countries such as Russia and France. India’s entry into the global nuclear arena has rightly coincided with the centenary celebrations of the birth of Dr. Homi Bhabha, father of the country’s nuclear research and development.

India to Generate 21,000 MW N-Power by ’20: BARC Official PDF Print E-mail

Associate Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) S Kailas has said that India’s nuclear program aims to generate a total of 21,180 MW of power from atomic energy by 2020. He was speaking at a workshop in Bangalore recently.

On the occasion of the Twentieth Anniversary of Termination of Nuclear Tests at the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Testing Site (SNTS) held on 18th June 2009, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbaev initiated a proposal to declare 29th August as the International Day of Renunciation of Weapons of Mass Destruction. He also made a proposal to work out a new universal “Treaty on Comprehensive Horizontal and Vertical Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.”
